Novagen is the oldest "official" Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu club in South Africa. Started by Ivan and Micah Atkinson- who began studying Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 1997- Novagen has quickly grown into a club of over 60 students training regularly and competing at all levels.

Novagen has produced National No Rules Champions, Grappling Champions, Sport Jiu-Jitsu Champions and even Pan American and World Champions. Novagen is the club with the highest number of ranked practitioners in the country training regularly.

Based in La Lucia, Durban, Novagen is a leading martial arts academy specialising in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and self defence. Courses cater for all age groups and experience levels. They are conducted by award-winning, top-ranked fighters and coaches.
